Wish

This time something to laugh at rather than learn from :D First dog in my life, not a good one, honestly speaking, but one has to start from something, right? Obviously it's linked by theme to the previous drawing (you can find it here: Imagine), at least that is what I intended (I just couldn't let those bubbles go...). I recommend walking through this drawing as it is sometimes good to see someone else struggle :D

As always - do not hesitate to ask questions!

Sketch was more or less fine, at least you can see something similar to a dog here. Whole idea for the picture is super simple, I just wanted to painting something different than a cat. Under the sketch, on the separate layer, I place the background, almost identical to the one with the kitten. Then, again on the separate layer, I add first dark spots which are supposed to evolve into the dog in the nearest future.

Wish Wish Wish

Just like the previous time I start with an eye and try very hard to make it more dog-like than cat-like. I've never had a dog so I had to look for help in the internet to draw anything. I honestly don't know how a proper dog should look like :D From eye I move to the fur, scratching steadily with a thin brush with high opacity. Sometimes I use smudge tool to separate some strands even further (small brush, strong smudge - something around 75%) or rearrange it (big, soft brush, weak smudge - around 30%)

After that, sadly, I have to paint its mouth. I sketch out the nose and try very hard to somehow place opened mouth in here, with tongue hanging. While black fur made things easier when I painted cat, now it makes everything harder. I had to lighten a big part of fur near the nose to be able to make mouth insides dark. On the separate layer I also add whiskers.

Wish Wish Wish

To make this drawing even more similar to the previous one - I add white fur on the dog's chest, exactly like the one which kitten had. It will help me with drawing jaw in the same time as it will create a nice contrast. I add teeth and gums (but very poorly as I don't have a dog to just look inside it's mouth and check everything...) and when I am happy with the result I zoom out the picture and... Well, what I saw, no one else will see xD Result was almost scary, completely lacking any anatomical sense. On the second picture you can see those mistakes... Wrongly placed and too small eyes, too wide head, whole dog too big, looking more like a bear than anything else...

Wish Wish Wish

I fixed my doggy a little by getting rid of large part of the fur on the right side and moving it a bit further. I added some additional hair strands to mask all this surgical operations... After that I add the missing ear and add light and fur to some parts of the head. I also make right eye a bit darker and smaller. Ah anatomy, why are you so complicated...?

Wish Wish Wish

Being terribly tired by my own mistakes I finally move to bubbles. I used some of those painted on the previous picture as a base - it makes things a lot faster and easier. And I also have to admit that I really was lazy that time... ;D

Wish Wish Wish

After some contrast enhancement the picture is finally done! :)
