Strelitzia

Strelitzia

After this long break, which mostly happened because of my exams and travels, I wish to present you a new drawing. I think it took me month to finally finish it (half of it was painted during one single day so you can imagine how much time I had for drawing in the past month). Well I no longer plan to say that "it will be better from now on and I will have more time for painting" since I stopped believing in this myself, to be honest. But for now let's enjoy new painting and this freakishly long tutorial I've prepared for you.

I don't know, maybe you are already fed up with those furry, smiling dogs and cats but I had movie prepared and I decided it would be a shame not to show it. There will be a happy dog, buried in autumn leaves, for everyone who wants to become a children's books illustrator, because that was the purpose of this drawing. Apart from watching the movie you can read my description of the whole process.

I won't hand it over!

Today you will see something silly and more for fun than anything else - eastern rabbit with best wishes from my humble self, have fun, no matter how you are spending this weekend :) Below there's a short process of drawing this fellow, along with some tips. I had some fun while drawing this as it's not style I usually draw in. But I hope this can be forgiven for once :D Sometimes you need to try something else, right?

Fairy dragon

Fairy dragon

This was was made for a special request, I was asked to make a short tutorial about drawing dragon scales. I am not really a master of the topic (I painted a dragon... once?) but who cares, right? That's some good motivation to learn and try something new too so I tried to give it my best. So here you go - small, forest and probably poisonous, cause there is no other explanation to those colors, dragon on a mushroom. As this didn't take long (3.5 hours total) I made a video of the process (don't worry, it's only 20 minutes long) so you can see in detail how this little fellow came to life.

Meringue

Meringue

This time something small and super cute. This drawing was supposed to be a sample image for a book for little girls. I was told to draw a kitten, which would be super ultra sweet and not necessarily fully realistic, more cartoon-ish even, like in children's books. That's how Meringue came to life - kitten so sweet beyond limits ;) As for the drawing itself I had a lot of fun doing it, nothing seems to relax me more than some kittens. Maybe you'll like this tutorial too!
